I know this isn’t DC but I just wanted to ask your opinion on it. Hellboy, along with The Flash and X-Men, are what got me into comics. Collecting Hellboy trades got me through some dark times. Going in and out of institutions. They were my prize possesion in whatever dorm they’d stick me in. The Del Toro films were good because they were Del Toro films. But as I read the comics I realized how OC they were. Mignola promised Hellboy 2019 would have him more involved with the script and have “less jokes” I do see Mignola’s influence in pulling more recent storylines from the books but this seems to be way more humor. It could be just how the trailer is cut. If they just cut that stupid upbeat soundtrack I’d be more at ease. Usually I am not half as critical of trailers but I hold Hellboy close to my heart and I want this to be good. I see Hellboy has claimed Excalibur. Mignola has interesting opportunity to go a different route than his comics where instead of dying he can lead King Arthur’s sleeping army. What do you think?
I think it looks… interesting, to say the least. But you’re right, though. The tone of the movie could be completely different from the finished product, seeing that this is how the first trailer is shown and cut together. Plus the fact that the movie is supposed to be an R-Rated reboot!
And not to mention the first poster that was shown with David Harbour as Hellboy was pretty red and hellfire-y.
